About the Program & Its Founder
BEwell is an innovative educational program designed for university educators, university staff, student support professionals, and students who wish to actively support the well-being of others, both within academia and beyond.
The program was created by PhDr. Jana Kočí, Ph.D., Assistant Professor at Charles University and founder of Uniwellsity, based in Prague, Czech Republic, Europe. For over two decades, Jana has been dedicated to research, teaching, and applied practice in the fields of health, well-being, and education.
Jana introduced BEwell at the Rectorate of Charles University, one of the oldest and most respected universities in Europe, where it became part of the university-wide well-being initiatives. Following its successful implementation at the Faculty of Education, the course is now also taught at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague.
Jana is the author of the book Well-Being and Success for University Students: Applying PERMA+4 (Koci & Donaldson, 2024), which serves as the core study resource for the program. While BEwell has been formally delivered as a university course for eight consecutive semesters, it is grounded in Jana’s long-standing academic research, international teaching experience, and close collaboration with students across diverse cultural and institutional contexts.
Jana now looks forward to sharing her expertise, methodology, and European academic perspective with a new generation of well-being specialists and leaders.
