Why BEwell Works
Evidence First
BEwell is built on the Science of Well-Being, Positive Psychology, and Positive Education. Every learning experience is grounded in empirical evidence, data-driven decision-making, and evidence-based educational practice. The program is based on the PERMA , PERMA+4, and PERMA5 frameworks, integrating 10 blocks of wellbeing into one semster-long digital course. Students are gradually guided through Positive emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Achievement, Physical health, Mindset, Environment, Economic security, and Authenticity modules.
Through BEwell, students do not simply learn about well-being. They actively practice it through Positive Psychology Interventions (PPIs), micro-interventions, and bite-sized activities designed to naturally fit into their everyday life. Every educational pathway is personalized, matching relevant evidence-based practices with students’ individual needs and goals.
Our goal is simple: to translate the Science of Well-Being into practical, measurable, and meaningful experiences that students can immediately apply in their daily lives.
Learning That Gives Energy
Students learn best when they are engaged, curious, and actively involved.
BEwell combines evidence-based education with AI-powered educational avatars that transform learning into an interactive experience. Rather than passively watching videos, students engage in conversations with pedagogical AI companions built on scripts created by researchers and educators. Artificial intelligence helps personalize the learning journey by selecting the most relevant content while staying within an evidence-based framework. The result is a highly engaging and individualized experience that students genuinely enjoy.
We are happy to hear students leave saying, “I wish there was more.”
Learning by Living It
Most educational programs stop when the lesson ends. BEwell is designed to continue long after students close their laptops.
Through guided reflection, practical exercises, and everyday challenges, students continuously connect what they learn with their real lives. They explore their goals, values, relationships, habits, strengths, and aspirations while developing skills they can immediately apply in academic, personal, and professional settings.
At the heart of the experience is the Well-Being Flower, a self-reflection tool that helps students understand what contributes to their own flourishing over time. The program draws on the evidence-based framework presented in Well-Being and Success for University Students: Applying PERMA+4 (Koci & Donaldson, 2024) and integrates practical tools, reflection exercises, and interventions developed from research in Positive Psychology, Positive Education, and the Science of Well-Being.
What begins as a course gradually becomes a new way of thinking, acting, and caring for their well-being.
Well-being for All
Imagine a university where students earn credits not only for mastering their chosen discipline, but also for learning evidence-based skills that support their mental health, physical health, relationships, resilience, and overall well-being.
Whether students study engineering, medicine, business, education, or the arts, well-being matters. We believe every student should have the opportunity to learn how to build a healthy, meaningful, and successful life alongside their academic studies.
The knowledge and practices taught through BEwell remain relevant long after graduation. Degrees prepare students for a profession. Well-being education helps prepare them for life.
